But who are we?

Maddie Lane was founded by Charlotte Wallin, whose lifelong love of French pâtisserie began in childhood. Growing up in Melbourne with French parents, French food and culture were a constant presence, from the language spoken at home to the flavours that filled the kitchen of her grandmother's apartment in Lyon, France.

When Charlotte was small, her family spent some time living near Geneva, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. She still remembers the small ritual of opening individually-wrapped supermarket madeleines at four years old. A simple pleasure that stayed with her.

At eighteen, she began working in a French patisserie and discovered how much she loved the craft: the creativity, precision, and quiet rhythm of it. After building a career in journalism and marketing, she felt drawn back to making something with her hands.

Maddie Lane is the result, a business dedicated to reimagining the traditional French madeleine. The business creates madeleine towers designed as statement pieces for weddings and celebrations, with more handcrafted products to come. It’s a simple idea built from a lifelong love of baking and a desire to bring a modern touch to a classic favourite.
